IntelliBible.com was established because, as an adult convert to Christianity, I needed to know if the Bible could actually be trusted as it was written. I was raised in a religion that, although it claimed to be Christian, was far from it and placed emphasis on the belief that the Bible had been translated over and over causing a dilution and an introduction of errors.

I had always been uncomfortable with that. I couldn’t shake the feeling that if there was a God and He had given His Word to man, He should have been powerful enough to keep it unchanged. After all, how much trust could I put into a God that could create an entire universe and not protect His Word from corruption? Also, if the Bible had been changed by man, wouldn’t that hold true for the other “scriptures” they claimed supplemented and added to the Bible? What could I possibly trust and believe?

It became very important to me to prove or disprove the validity and trustworthiness of the Bible. I approached the search with no prior agenda. I just wanted to know the truth.

In my search, I became involved in several different belief systems. At different points in my life I was part of a “new age” study group, became a follower of Ekancar, looked into Buddhism and even got involved in a Wiccan group. None of these held my interest very long. I needed to find something I could prove was real and true, not just a collection of stories and fables. These were religions based on what people wanted to believe, not what was actually going on.

I found myself coming back to the Bible. That was where my search began and seemed to be the best possibility for any universal truth, if there, in fact, was one. In order to accept anything the Bible said, however, I had to prove it to myself. That brought me back full circle to the issue of whether of not it had been changed over the years or if it was intact, exactly as it had been originally written. Was there a way to determine it was more than a collection of fables written by men? Could it have originated outside our reality? And had it remained unchanged? These were questions I felt had to be answered before I could accept it as fact. To be honest, I didn’t think there was any way to answer these questions completely. I knew that if I couldn’t reach a conclusive answer that I was off the hook and didn’t have to face the issue of whether or not God existed at all.

You’ve probably guessed by now that I wouldn’t even be writing this if I hadn’t found the answers I was looking for. It is my goal through this blog site to record as many of the answers I found in my search. It was an amazing journey. One that isn’t over, yet. I hope you will join me here as I take you with me.

One of my biggest concerns, though, is that people understand the difference between what the scriptures say and what has become church tradition. There are many practices in Christian churches today that, while not wrong, are not scriptural. Everyone will have different opinions about these issues and different interpretations of various sections of the Bible, and I am no different. Some things are very clear and some are open to discussion. When I voice my opinion about something, I will try to make it clear that what I am saying is, in fact, opinion. I try to keep the end goal of discovering the facts in front of me and not manipulating scripture to defend something I have decided I want to believe.
